Late night in KoP

11-26-13

Just after 1:00am, Engine 32 was dispatched to assist Station 47 (king of prussia) at a dwelling fire on the 200 block of South Gulph Rd. Upon arrival, the engine's crew stretched a back up line to the front of the dwelling then assisted with checking for extension and overhaul.

DelCo assist

11-15-13 

Engine 32 was dispatched just after 10:00pm to cover Radnor Fire Co. (Delco Station 15) while they operated at a two alarm dwelling fire. The Engine headed to Delaware County with a crew of eight and covered Radnor Township along with Middletown Fire Co. (Delco Station 50) and Royersford Fire Dept. Rescue 98. After assisting with getting their equipment back in service, the rescue assignment sounded sending Radnor Fire Co. & Engine 32 to 478 Wyldhaven Rd. for a vehicle on its side and two subjects trapped. The crew assisted with stabilization, fire suppression and removal of the victims from the vehicle, prior to the 20 min mark.  Engine 32 cleared the rescue and cover assignment after three hours of service.

A morning at the Academy

Members from the Bridgeport Fire Dept. and Swedesburg Fire Co. gathered at the Montgomery County Fire Academy this morning for some residential burn evolutions.

Next due on West Main

Just before 8:30pm, Good Will was dispatched to assist the Norristown Fire Dept. at a building fire on the 100 block of W. Main St. Engine 32 responded with six and upon arrival secured utilities and assisted with clean up before being released and returning to station.

Another trophy for the shelf

For the sixth time since 2006, the Bridgeport Fire Deptartment, with the help of Brian Boru Pipes & Drums, placed first in it's marching category at the PA State Firemen's Convention. Engine 32-1 and utility 32 also took home second place trophies in their respective categories. Congratulations to our friends from Brian Boru who took home a second place trophy in their category as well.

 

Thanks to the guys and girls of the Fame Fire Company of West Chester for putting together a great convention weekend!

King of Prussia assist

9-21-13

As members finished up the daunting task of cleaning hose for the upcoming state convention, Engine 32 was dispatch to assist Station 47 (king of prussia) at a dwelling fire on the 200 block of Strawberry Lane. Upon arrival, the Engine's crew was tasked with putting an additional line in service and opening up as well as salvage and overhaul. Good Will operated on scene for over two hours before returning to station.

Door to go

8-23-13

Just before 2:00pm, Stations 31 and 32, along with Rescue 27, were dispatched to a vehicle rescue on the 100 block of W. 4th St. Upon arrival, crews stabilized the vehicle, extricated one passenger and assisted EMS with packaging of the victim. Engines 32 and 32-1 and Utility 32 made the response from Good Will.

 

Row homes in Norristown

Around 3:oopm, members from Good Will were alerted for the response to Norristown to assist at a row home fire on the 1000 block of Willow St. The Engine and Utility made the response and assisted on scene with numerous other area companies for several hours before being released and returning to station.

Morning assist

Just after 6:00 this morning, Engine 32 was dispatched as the next due engine to Norristown to assist Station 27 at a building fire on the 100 block of West Main St. Members assisted on scene for nearly an hour and a half before being released by command and returning to station.

Quick knock down

7-23-13

Just after 3:00pm, Stations 31 and 32, along with Ladder 27 and Pipeline 49, were dispatched to Tube Methods at 416 Depot St. for a reported building fire. Police arrived on scene and confirmed a smoke condition in the building and active fire in the first floor ceiling. Crews from Quint 31 and Engine 32 went into service with an 1 3/4" handline and put a quick knock on the fire; checks for extension were negative. Companies operated on scene for nearly an hour before clearing the scene.

Next due

5-30-13 

Engine 32 was dispatched around 10:30 this evening to assist the Norristown Fire Dept. at a dwelling fire on the 100 block of E. Marshall St. Upon arrival, the engine’s crew was given the task of checking the exposures for any fire extension with negative results. Engine 32 was on scene for approx. one hour before being released by Norristown Command.

Quick work

4-24-13 

Stations 32 and 31, along with Ladder 27 (Fairmount), Pipeline 49 (Swedesburg) and Engine 47-1 (King of Prussia) as the RIT Team, were dispatched at 6:26 pm to 401 E. 4th St for a fire in the basement of Light Parker Furniture. Pipeline 49 arrived and reported smoke showing from the main entrance of the business. Crews placed two lines in service from Pipeline 49 while Engine 32 took position as water supply. Ladder 27 and Quint 31 placed themselves on sides Alpha and Delta and assisted with overhaul of the fire. Crews found the fire in an office area of the furniture store and not in the basement as reported. Crews operated on scene for about an hour and a half before going available. Also assisting on scene were Engine 27, Engine 27-2 and Ladder 48.

Midday assist

4-21-13

Engine 32 was dispatched at 12:54pm to assist the Norristown Fire Dept. at a dwelling fire in the 100 block of E. Marshall St. with late reports of children being trapped. The engine arrived on scene and assisted with secondary searches of both fire and exposure buildings and assisted ems with loading of the patients for transports to the helicopter LZ. Both children were flown to the city for smoke inhalation. The engine was on scene for about an hour before clearing and going available.

Night time assist

4-15-13

At 11:48pm, the Engine was dispatched as the next due engine to assist Station 27 (norristown) at a dwelling fire in the zero block of W. Chestnut St. The engine assisted at the scene for nearly a half an hour before going available.

Assist on the pike

4-11-13

Engine 32 was dispatched at 8:12 this evening to assist Station 49 (swedesburg) at a tractor trailer fire on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The engine assisted on scene for just over a half an hour before going available. This same fire was the cause of a smoke in the area call here in town some 20 minutes before being dispatched to the turnpike.

Trash smoke

Just before 6:30am, the Department, along with Ladder 27 and Pipeline 49, were dispatched to a possible building fire at JP Mascaro & Sons at 315 W. 6th St. Responding units received an initial report of a smoke condition in a supply room coming from an unknown source. First arriving units found a mulch fire outside up against the building. Bridgeport "5" held the response to Quint 31 and Engine 32-1. The crew from Engine 32-1 stretched it's forestry line and extinguished the fire.

Engine 32-1 joined Stations 47 (king of prussia), 48 (swedeland) and 49 (swedesburg) at the Montgomery County Fire Academy this morning for a residential burn session.

Small car fire

Stations 31 and 32 were dispatched to a vehicle fire on Grove St. where they encountered a small fire in the vehicle's interior. Engine 32 pulled a line and quickly extinguished the fire.

Late evening stand by 

2-24-13

Engine 32 was dispatched just after 10:00pm for a stand by assignment at Station 27-d (fairmount) while the Norristown Fire Dept. operated at a dwelling fire on the 100 block of Chain St. The engine returned to station just after midnight.

Another piece of the puzzle

The research for the company's upcoming 100th anniversary has yielded many discoveries over the past year and the folks at Waterous Fire Pumps & Protection Equipment just added to the excitement. After recently contacting Waterous inquiring about the first piece of equipment Good Will owned, we received in the mail today an image of the exact model purchased by the company (a trade in from the fairmount of lansdale) in 1915. While we may never be able to locate an actual photo of this piece, this has helped put that question to rest.

Accident on Fourth

2-6-13

The department was dispatched just after 2:00pm today for a vehicle fire after an accident at 20 E. Fourth St. Arriving units found an accident involving three vehicles but no fire, instead encountering a leaking gas tank on one of the vehicles. Crews secured the battery of one vehicle while the leaking gas tank was plugged and secured. Oil dry was also put down on the roadway during the cleanup. Crews remained on scene for nearly an hour before returning station.

6 ABC Operation Safe a Life

1-31-13

Department Chief Steve Wanczyk and Company Chiefs Ken Frymoyer (station 31) and Mike Gallagher Sr (station 32) attended the 6 ABC Operation Save a Life event today at the Philadelphia Fire Academy. The department, along with other companies in attendance, received an allotment of smoke detectors to be distributed to households in their first due.

First of the Year

1-1-13

Good Will's first run of the year came in the late morning hours on New Years Day, an assist to King of Prussia (station 47) at a dwelling fire on the 300 block of Prince Frederick St. The Engine and its crew assisted on scene for nearly an hour and a half before being released and returning to station.
