Fire in the Wall

Bridgeport and other surrounding units responded to a building fire at the Belmont Village Apartments early this afternoon. Police arrived on scene with a smoke condition in a third floor apartment of the A building. First in crews opened up a bedroom wall and ceiling exposing an active fire which was quickly knocked down. Crews checked an adjacent apartment and the attic/roof and reported no extension.

While the Eagles and Cardinals battled it out in Arizona, Engine 32 was in Norristown assisting Station 27 at a dwelling fire on the 200 block of E. Oak St. The engine assisted on scene for nearly three hours before being released and returning to station.

Engine 32 was dispatched to assist Station 47 (king of prussia) at a building fire on the 500 block of Williams Road in the Brandywine Village section of Upper Merion. Upon arrival, Engine 32 was assigned as the RIT team and later assisted in overhaul before returning to station.

The company completed another busy fire prevention week that included our yearly Bridgeport Elementary School visits and trips to both fire prevention expos held by the Swedesburg and Centre Square Fire Companies.

Engine 32 assisted Station 47 (king of prussia) on a building fire at Seasons 52 on North Gulph Rd this afternoon. Crews were working on scene for nearly two hours before going available.

Anniversary officially kicks off!

The company's 100th anniversary festivities officially kicked off this evening with the 100th anniversary meeting at St. Monica'a Hall commemorating the organization of the company on July 23, 1914 and the official unveiling of the fire company museum. Both events were largely attended and a great evening was had by all. In the coming year, the Good Will Fire Co. will be hosting numerous events, some public, some for current and former members, to celebrate 100 years of serving Bridgeport and surrounding communities. We thank all current members as well as our former members and those from the public who attended the events this evening and helped us start the celebration off on such a high note! A special thanks to Randy Bennett and the Bridgeport Hall of Fame and Tom Kohler from PA Rep. Tim Brigg's office for the their presentations to the company.

At 9:20 am, Bridgeport fire units were dispatched to a working vehicle fire at Hurst St and Oak Alley. Engines 31, 32 and 32-1 made the response and made quick work of the fire. As crews were wrapping up, Engine 32 was called in to assist station 47 (king of prussia) at a large brush fire at the Heuser Park compost site off of Beidler Rd. The engine laid all 1200ft of its 5 inch supply line and assisted at the scene for over six hours before returning to station.

At 9:48pm, Engine 32 and its crew of 8 relocated to Station 27D and stood by for nearly an hour and a half while the Norristown Fire Dept. operated at a dwelling fire on the 600 block of W. Main St. No calls were ran during the cover.

Public Safety Community Day

The Bridgeport Fire and Police Depts. hosted Bridgeport's first annual Public Safety Community Day today at the boro hall parking lot. Neighboring fire companies from Upper Merion and Norristown, Elks Lodge #714, Bridgeport Town Watch representatives, the Bridgeport Hall of Fame and Bridgeport Little League were also in attendance assisting in the days activity. We'd like to thank Frosty Falls, Suzy-Jo Donuts and Philly Pretzel Factory for their generous donations as well as all those in attendance who helped make the day a successful one.

At 2:22pm, Engine 32 was dispatched, along with other surrounding companies, to assist Station 47 (king of prussia) at a barn fire on the 500 block of Fletcher Road. The Engine responded with four, along with supplemental manpower in the Bridgeport Fire Dept. command car, and assisted on scene for nearly four hours before being released.

A fully staffed Engine 32 stood by Tuesday evening at the Lower Providence Fire Dept. main station and provided cover while their members hosted the annual Fireman's Fair. Quint 61 (norriton) was also in station.

Vehicle fire turns into building response

At 2:37pm today, Stations 31 and 32 were dispatched for a vehicle fire at 350 W. Third St. Minutes later, the assignment was upgraded to a building fire, bringing Ladder 27 and Pipeline 49 to the scene, with reports of smoke from the roof. The vehicle, which caught fire inside in the building, was pulled to the exterior by workers. The vehicle was extinguished and checks for extension were negative.

At 11:16pm, Engine 32 was dispatched for a stand by assignment at Station 27D (fairmount) while the Norristown Fire Dept. operated at a dwelling fire. The Engine ran one call while covering 27, a  building fire (fire under a deck) on the 000 block of Rosemont Ave.

Engine 32 was dispatched at 8:35pm for a stand by assignment at Station 27B (montgomery) while the Norristown Fire Dept. operated at a hazardous materials incident. The Engine, along with Quint 61, relocated to the montgomery and responded to one call, a fire alarm, while in the Borough.

Firefighter Brandon Jenkins received his Firefighter 1 Certification this evening in front of friends and family at the Montgomery County Fire Academy. Brandon, who joined the ranks in early 2013, completed nearly 200 hours of training over the last year; dedication at its finest. Congratulations!

Several members from Good Will, along with members from Stations 48 (swedeland) and 49 (swedesburg), attended a flashover simulator at the Delaware County Emergency Services Training Center today.

At 4:06am, Engine 32 was dispatched for a stand by at Station 35 (Conshy #2) while the Conshohocken Fire Dept. and other local companies operated at a building fire on Elm St. The Engine relocated and stood by for nearly five hours before being released and returning to station.

At 11:52 this morning, Stations 31 and 32 were dispatched to a reported vehicle fire at 906 DeKalb St. BFD Chief Wanczyk arrived on scene and found a fully involved van with minor extension to a fence and other surrounding items. Crews pulled lines from both Quint 31 and Engine 32 and made quick work of the fire.

Stations 31 and 32, along with Ladder 27 and Pipeline 49, were dispatched to a working dwelling fire on the 100 block of W. 4th St just after 8:00 this evening. First arriving units encountered fire showing from the third floor rear bedroom. Crews went to work while BFD Chief Wanczyk requested additional units, bringing Engine 47-1 with the RIT, Engine 27-2 and Ladder 48. Crews operated on scene for nearly two hours before clearing.

Engine 32 was dispatched at 12:38 to stand by at Station 27-D while the Norristown Fire Dept. operated at a dwelling fire on the 600 block of Roberts St. The engine ran one call while en route to the stand by and was then requested to assist at the scene.

Members and their families gathered this evening to celebrate the company's 99th anniversary as well as honor those firefighters and members awarded for individual achievements for yet another year of dedicated service to the company and community.

At 2:00am, Engine 32 was dispatched to relocate to Delco Station 15 (Radnor) to stand by while they operated at a two alarm dwelling fire. The engine and it's crew stood by for nearly three and a half hours before returning to station.

At 3:48pm, a building assignment was struck for a mobile home fire with burn victim on the 300 block of W. 3rd St. First arriving units encountered a fully involved 24 ft mobile home. Crews placed two hand lines in service and made a quick knock on the fire. Lafayette Ambulance treated and transported a 60 year old male with serious burns. Crews from Swedesburg, Norristown and King of Prussia were also on scene.
