Engine 32 assisted Station 27 (norristown) at a dwelling fire this evening on the 100 block of W. Wood St.  Upon arrival, the engine's crew threw ladders and stretched a second hose line to the second floor.

Engine 32, supplementing Quint 31, responded to the Valley Forge Towers this afternoon to assist King of Prussia (station 47) at a building fire. The engine's crew was on scene for just over two hours before returning to station.

Fire Prevention Week

October 4-10, 2015

Members of the Bridgeport Fire Department participated in several fire prevention events this week. Bridgeport Elementary students visited Station 32 throughout the week, touring the station and equipment and taking part in demonstrations. The annual fire drill and fire prevention visit to the elementary school took place on Wednesday. Apparatus also attended Swedesburg Fire Co.'s annual Fire Prevention Night held at the Giant in King of Prussia.

The first shipment of our new MSA G1 SCBA arrived this evening, complete with a presentation given by John Major from The Fire Store. Approx. 30 fire department members were on hand for this first hands-on opportunity with the new SCBA. Members will receive more training within the coming weeks before the SCBA is placed into service.

Engine 32 was dispatched at 4:50 this morning to assist Station 49 (swedesburg) on a working fire assignment on the 500 block of Dartmouth Dr. Upon arrival, the Engine's crew put a backup line into service. The Engine returned to station at 6:20am.

As members were finishing up the emergency lighting upgrades to Engine 32, the company was dispatched for a stand by assignment in Norristown. The engine stood by at Station 27B (montgomery) while the Norristown Fire Dept. operated at a dwelling fire on Redwood Ln.

Members took some time out of their busy schedules today to begin emergency lighting upgrades to Engine 32. The engine, when completed, will be completely retrofitted with LED lighting. This project and future projects for other apparatus are made possible by the Fire Company, Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program.

Engine 32 alerted on the working dispatch with 47

Engine 32 was dispatched to assist Station 47 (king of prussia) on a dwelling fire this evening at 630 Norlyn Ct. The engine crew arrived and assisted with ventilation and placement of ground ladders. The crew then split and performed a secondary search of the dwelling and overhauled the room of origin.  Engine 32 was released after and hour of work by 47 command and returned to service.

At 9:25 this morning, Engine 32 responded to Saulin Blvd in Upper Merion Township to assist Station 49 (swedesburg) at a trash compactor fire at the Republic Services King of Prussia Recyclery.

Evening work

Department and mutual aid units were alerted just before 8:30 this evening of a dwelling fire on the 100 block of E 4th St. Units arrived on scene to light smoke showing from the home. A line from Engine 32, as well as a back up line, were stretch into the home where crews experienced zero visibility and high heat while ascending the third floor stairs. Active fire was found in the front bedroom and quickly knocked down. Crews from Bridgeport and Norristown threw ladders and vented the building. Personnel from Station 49 (swedesburg) assisted with overhaul while Station 47 (king of prussia) provided RIT services. All occupants made it out of the home safely and no injuries were reported.

Two trips over the Schuylkill

Engine 32 made two trips across the bridge into Norristown today to assist our counterparts in the borough. The first  trip came at 4:20 in the afternoon when the Engine was dispatched to relocate to Station 27-D (fairmount) while the Norristown Fire Dept. operated a building fire. The Engine responded to one call while on stand-by, a mulch fire under the porch of a home on the 1300 block of W Airy St. The second trip came later in the evening when the Engine responded to the 100 block of W Airy St. just before 11:30 to assist at a carbon monoxide incident.

Three alarms in Plymouth

Around 4:00 am, Engine 32 was dispatched to assist Station 43 (plymouth) at a three alarm building fire on the 1000 block of Colwell Ln. The engine was on scene for nearly four hours before being released and returning to station.

Our 100th anniversary festivities continued today with the company's 100th anniversary parade. Hundreds lined the street as fire companies and other local organizations joined the company in the procession down Fourth St. and later at the post parade ceremonies and celebration. The company would like to thank all of the organizations, dignitaries and citizens of Bridgeport for coming out and celebrating with us today... thank you for making this event a truly memorable one!

Fire in a vacant

Monday, may 4, 2015

At 8:42 this morning, Bridgeport, Norristown and Upper Merion units were dispatched to 21 Depot St for a building fire with initial reports of smoke showing. Police arrived on scene and confirmed light smoke showing from the building. Personnel from Bridgeport forced entry and found a free burning fire on the first floor of the vacant structure. The flames were quickly extinguished and overhaul performed while other crews searched the building for any other suspicious activity.

Engine 32 spent the afternoon in Norristown this past weekend assisting the Norristown Fire Dept at two different fires, a building fire/hazmat event on Saturday the 18th at the Morabito Baking Co. on the 700 block of Kohn St. and at a dwelling fire on Sunday the 19th on the 800 block of Kohn St.

Burnt toast

As members socialized after our RIT Awareness training this evening, a building response was dispatched for 492 Ford St. First in crews encountered a smoke condition on the first floor of an apartment building caused by a burnt up toaster. The balance was held and crews on scene went in service with fans.
